Phase 1 - Needs Assessment (Functional Specification)
Brooks starts every new project with a needs assessment. This allows for clear communication on the issue at hand and what requirements will shape the project to come.
- Description of problem that needs to be solved - Specific functionality desired for tooling - Weight Restrictions - Material Restrictions - Spatial Dimensions - ect...
Phase 2 - Conceptual Design / Prototyping
Once all project requirements have been established, the conceptual design phase will begin. As concepts become more refined, Brooks will begin to fabricate prototypes in-house. The customer is kept in close contact throughout this phase. - Concept Design - One / Multiple Prototype Fabrication - Testing Mock-Up Design and Fabrication
Phase 3 - Final System Development
Once Prototype design have proven effective, Brooks begins the Final System Development. During this phase Brooks inspection personnel will start to train on the developed tooling and together with the engineering team will create the inspection processes and procedures that will be effective during tooling deployment.
- Final Design Fabrication - Testing & Qualification - Development of Processes and Procedures - System Training - Deployment

| Custom Service Tooling Examples |
| Below is just a sample of the many different capabilities possessed by the Brooks engineering team. Each of these systems was custom designed to fill a special inspection need and has now been adopted into the standard Brooks tooling arsenal. All Brooks tooling can be controlled with the custom GUI developed for that specific tool through the Universal Control Station (UCS), making inspections faster and more reliable. |

| SWATS PT (Shell to Wrapper Annulus Transport System) |
Originally designed to support annulus and tubelane inspections for nuclear facilities, SWATS PT has made a place for itself as a universal inspection tool. Outfitted with one fixed navigation camera and one PTZ capable high resolution inspection camera SWATS PT supports both generator and heat exchanger inspection. For more information on the SWATS PT and standard SWATS PT services available, download the Brooks Remote Annulus Inspection brochure or contact a Brooks representative.

MIGS (Manual In-bundle Guidetube System) |
Developed to inspect the narrow gaps of tri-pitched steam generators, MIGS (Manual In-bundle Guidetube System) is a boom guidetube system that is capable of precisely positioning a specialized video probe and retrieval tooling for in-bundle services, making characterization and trending easier than ever. For more information on the MIGS system and standard MIGS services available, download the Brooks Tri & Square Pitch In-bundle Inspection & Retrieval Services brochure or contact a Brooks representative.
Key System Features
> High resolution imaging with high intensity LED lighting > Operates in square and tri-pitched generators with > Precise column indexing with visual location feedback > Working channel accommodates:
- Retrieval Tooling - Abrasive Cutting Tools > CIS Image Capture Capable |
| UBIB (Upper Bundle In-bundle Inspection System) |
UBIB was specifically designed to reach upper in-bundle regions of steam generators and heat exchangers, areas previously inaccessible with older inspection technology. The system provides valuable information regarding support plate fouling, cracking and in-bundle deposit accumulation. For more information on UBIB or to see how Brooks can help you, contact a brooks representative.
Key System Features
> Patented Technology > Precise Alignment and Positioning Feedback > Exclusive Capability to Access Inter-bundle Area at > Capable of Inspecting Many Steam Generator Models > CIS Image Capture Capable
